ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY TECHNICIANS

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Canadian industry leader in the underground pipe inspection technology industry. Hathorn Corporation (www.hathorncorp.com) has been in business for almost 20 years designing and manufacturing underground pipe inspection cameras. We are in a growth phase and require the help of experienced Electronic Assembly Technicians.

Located at our HQ in Markham, the Electronic Assembly Technicians will be primarily responsible for assembling new subassemblies and cross training into other electronic parts for our products and repairing existing equipment. These two roles would suit individuals who have experience in electronic assembly and service of small electronic/mechanical parts.

Please note that these roles are not an apprenticeship and will not lead to nor support any electrical or industrial certification.

Key Duties

  • Assembling subassemblies using custom built electronic and mechanical components

  • Soldering board level components such as LEDs, small gauge wires and micro slip rings

  • Testing completed camera heads for quality control

  • Trouble shooting and repairing of parts

  • Soldering cables & terminations

  • Reading schematics

  • Mechanical assembly & disassembly of camera heads – very small parts

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Fluency in verbal and written English is a requirement

  • Problem solving skills - resourceful, uncovers ways to overcome obstacles, asks ‘why’, thinks ahead, does not work in isolation

  • Experience with mechanical assembly and use of hand tools

  • Extreme attention to detail and a great attitude – we want a team player

  • Diploma from technical school in electronics related field preferred

  • Experience fixing and diagnosing electrical faults (TV repair, electronics repair, LED lights etc.)

  • Ability to read/update simple schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Communication - positive, professional manner with colleagues and clients

  • Collaborative - contributes to team achievement and success

  • Organization and time-management - works efficiently to manage and meet deadlines
